Mission and History

The Tennessee Tennis Patrons Foundation is a charitable foundation which is exempt from federal taxation under Internal Revenue Code Sec. 501c3.  Initially organized in 1989, the foundation has three main functions which serve its mission to promote the growth and development of tennis in Tennessee:  maintain the Tennessee Tennis Hall of Fame which recognizes excellence in the sport of tennis; provide financial assistance to junior players who compete in the USTA junior tournament structure; and encourage Tennesseeans to pursue collegiate play opportunities.

The foundation promotes tennis as a lifetime sport which provides benefits such as recreation, health, character development, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and friendship.  The foundation partners with other organizations including the USTA, USTA Southern, USTA Tennessee, Community Tennis Associations, schools, colleges, and the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation.

The foundation is staffed and led entirely by volunteers and is an organizational member of the USTA.
